Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), also known as Green tags, Renewable Energy Credits, or Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs), are tradable environmental commodities which represent proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable energy resource.
Verdegía manage and process Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) on our clients behalf - These are sold and traded within carbon emissions trading programs to promote low-carbon technologies. RECs are incentives for carbon-neutral renewable energy production subsidy to electricity generated from renewable sources.
A green energy provider (such as Verdegía) is credited with one REC for every 1,000 kWh or 1 MWh of electricity it produces (for reference, an average residential customer consumes about 800 kWh in a month). A certifying agency gives each REC a unique identification number to make sure it doesn't get double-counted. The green energy is then fed into the electrical grid (by mandate), and the accompanying REC can then be sold on the open market.

Verdegía infrastructure accurately quantify, using smart meter technology the amount of renewable energy production and the savings of CO2 emissions (measured in metric tonnes). Verdegía systems provide highly accurate, real-time results for RECs processing and carbon trading.
EU legislation endorsed by the European Union Emission Trading System (EU ETS) is the largest multi-national emissions trading scheme in the world. Outlined in their directive to adopt green energy policies that reduce green house gasses and protect our environment through mechanisms as the Kyoto Protocol.

Planting a green future
By adopting Verdegía technology and services our clients effectively saving 365 Mega Watts of electricity generated from the use of fossil fuels that cause the production of 505,440 pounds or 154 metric tons per year of carbon dioxide. To compensate these emissions it would require the planting of 1,264 trees a year. In response, by adopting a Solar Engine that produces zero carbon dioxide, Renewable Energy Certificates, RECs valued up to €3,442.88 can be awarded to each renewable energy system per year.*
